Kevin's
night started out good with a 2nd place in qualifying. He began the
feature from the 3rd position due to the draw. On lap 3, the night came
to an end when the trailing arm bracket spuncausing the car to be
undriveable. Kevin retired to the pits and watched the remainder of the
race from the stands.

Kevin
was unable to get the car ready in time for the races this week. He
will be back in action at SAS on July 11th. Hope to see you there!
June 20, 2009 4th Place Finish at SAS

drove Greg Melvin's #29 this week. He started in the rear of the field
and brought home a 4th place finish. A big thanks to Greg for the
opportunity to drive.
June 13, 2009 2nd Place at SAS
Kevin
ran the #00G again at SAS this week. He started the heat race from the
outside of the front row and took the lead on lap 4 for the win. He
started the 35 lap feature from the 9th position. By lap 25 he had made
his way to the 2nd position. A caution flew and Ryan Redmon was able to
get by Kevin on the restart. On lap 31, Kevin passed Ryan to reclaim
the 2nd position.
May 31, 2009 Wild Weekend for Kevin
To
start the weekend off, Kevin traveled to Five Flags Speedway. On the
first lap of the second practice session, a right front ball joint
broke sending him straight into the wall. The black #18 was destroyed
on the right side. Thanks to God and good safety equipment Kevin walked
away unscaved. We're still not sure if it can be fixed. Stay tuned to
see what the future holds.
Saturday
night was a much better night. Kevin was able to borrow the #00G from
Clay Galbreath in order to compete in the modified action at South
Alabama Speedway. He started last in a field of 10 and made his way to
the 3rd position when the checkered flag flew.
Kevin
also competed in the Vintage class with the #6. As most of you know,
this season has been full of mishaps with the #6. Several times Kevin
has been leading or on his way to the front when misfortune would take
place. Well, Saturday night was the end of that. Kevin started on the
outside pole and made it to the start finish line first. He lead all 25
laps to claim the win. May 16, 2009 Another strong finish at SAS
Saturday
night turned out to be a long night due to an extensive rain delay.
Kevin qualified 3rd with the #18, but due to inversion started the race
from the 4th position. He quickly made his way to the 2nd position and
brought home another strong finish. May 9, 2009 Sets New Track Record in Vintage
Kevin
started the night by setting a new track record in the #6 Vintage car!
He started the feature on the pole and lead in dominating fashion until
on lap 21 when the clutch broke sending him to the pits.
In
the modified feature, he started in the 9th position of the 10 car
field. On lap 23, Kevin made the pass for the second position.
Another strong finish for the #18! May 2, 2009 Kevin takes the Modified Win at SAS!
Saturday
night began with Modified qualifying. Kevin qualified 3rd with a
16.296. This gave him a good starting position for the 16 car 40 lap
feature. On the first corner of the first lap, the car in front of
Kevin had to slam on brakes to keep from being run over by the car on
the outside. Kevin had to brake and the car behind him didn't causing
Kevin to get sideways, but he was able to save it and only lose 4
positions. He made his way back to third and challenged the
second place car. On lap 32, Kevin and the second place car made
contact. With eight laps to go Kevin was still in 3rd position. With 4
laps to go, the leader spun. On the restart, Kevin took over the lead
and brought home his first win of the season. Kevin
also raced the #6 Vintage car. He started on the pole for the 25 lap
feature but on lap 10 the motor quit due to distributor problems and he
retired early. April 18, 2009 Montgomery Motor Speedway Opening Night Kevin
traveled to Montgomery to participate in the opening night races, but
not before having a hectic morning. While loading the car, a mishap
occurred and the bell housing ended up busted into two pieces. By this
time, Harley's T-ball game was starting. Kevin left the shop and the
broken #18 to attend the ballgame. Upon returning, he and the crew
replaced the broken part with a new one and loaded for the 3 hour
drive. The
#18 arrived to the track just as practice was concluding. Upon
unloading the car, Kevin qualified in the 4th position. When coming off
the track, he hit the speed bumps and bent the mount for the sway bar.
The crew worked to try and fix the car as best as possible, but in the
feature the mount gave way. Kevin had a strong car but due to the
issues with the sway bar was unable to show its full potential. He
brought the black #18 home with a 4th place finish, which isn't bad
considering the day he had. April 11, 2009 Vintage & Modified Features at SAS To
start off a busy night of racing, Kevin drove the #6 Vintage car owned
by Clint Boggs. He started the 20 lap feature from the 4th position and
was challenging Steve Stewart for the lead when the power steering belt
came loose causing him to retire to the pits on lap 7. Kevin started the Modified feature from the inside of the second row and finished in the third position. March 23, 2009 Back to Back Nights of Racing Friday
night didn't start out too good for Kevin at Five Flags Speedway, but
it ended with a strong finish. He started on the pole for the 8 lap
heat race and led until lap 4. When the checkers fell, he ended up 4th. Due
to field inversion, Kevin started the feature from the outside of the
front row. He took the lead when the green flag flew. He
stretched out to a straightaway lead over the field. On lap 13, the
caution flew for a blown engine in the #1 car driven by Kip Whitehead.
Kevin took the point again, but #7Todd Jones was able to make the pass
on lap 15 for the win. Kevin brought his #18 home with a career best 2nd place finish at Five Flags. Saturday
night was a short night for Kevin and the black #18 dirt car. The
engine blew during hot laps. We will have a few weeks to see Kevin
compete on the dirt.
March 9, 2009 Strong 2nd Place in Rattler.
Kevin
qualified 5th on Saturday night for the 50 lap Modified Feature. Before
making it to turn one on the start of the race, the right front tire
went down. Kevin had to bring the #18 into the pits. He restarted the
race from the 16th position. By lap 28, he was running in the 7th
position. He continued to make his way through the field and brought
his black #18 home with a strong 2nd place finish.

Double duty for Peel, comes home with Vintage checkers!
Kevin Peel
had a busy night this past Saturday at South Alabama Speedway.
Not only was he in his familiar black #18 Modified car, but he
also ran the red #6 Vintage car normally driven by Clint
Boggs. Overall it was a successful night for the Chipley, FL
driver.
In the
modified feature, Peel came from his 7th place starting
position to 5th at the end of the first lap. He would then
find himself in a tight five car battle for the second spot.
Towards the end of the race, the car's handling would start to
go away. He would manage to hold on to a strong 4th place
finish.
The vintage
feature was picture perfect for Peel. He drew the 6th starting
position, and quickly showed he was the car to beat, passing
three cars on the very first lap. After just two laps, Kevin
found himself in the second spot, chasing down Vintage
division master Teddy Sasser. The battle with Sasser wouldn't
last long, as peel make a great move to capture the lead just
four laps into the race. He would cruise to victory nearly
uncontested.
